Meet the author

Hi, I’m Marlee.

I’ve been writing since I was seven years old, mailing letters to my sister wherever military life took her, sometimes another state, sometimes another country. Those letters were the beginning of a love for writing that has grown right along with me.

As the youngest of ten children, I grew up in a house where quiet was hard to come by. Some of my nephews and my niece were older than I was, and others were only a few years younger. There was always somebody around, and always something going on! When I wasn’t visiting my sister during the summer, my imagination took me wherever I wanted to go. I could create a whole world of stories without leaving home.

As I grew, so did those worlds. Today, I’m the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and grandmother of five: four wild and wonderfully busy grandchildren, and one laid-back grandson who may have joined the military to escape the same family madness that helped make me so creative! My three older grandchildren have given me plenty of inspiration, and my two youngest girls keep me growing, going, and finding new ways to use my imagination.

My parents taught me that unity and family mean everything, and I’ve carried that belief into the family I raised. It’s also at the heart of my writing and my love for creating things that help others. Sometimes that means telling the truth about an experience we don’t talk about enough. Sometimes it means opening the door to an adventure a child can get lost in.

The Season No One Told Us About comes from real life, from friendship, menopause, and the truths we had to learn together. But there are many more stories waiting to be shared. If you loved this one, just wait until you see what else Marlee has up her sleeve.

“I once carried letters and packages. Today I carry stories, inventions, opportunities, my family’s dream, and a legacy.”
